Old Mutual financial services group provides leading investment and savings solutions, and is the largest financial services provider in Southern Africa. In 2004 the company changed their logo and re-branded, and needed to have the change replicated within all of their web domains and subsidiary companies.
Client requirements: The client was re-branding during 2004. That meant they needed their old logo replaced with the new logo. This was done as a phased approach, due to costs.
The project: My responsibility was to change the logo on all their web properties, and provide them with visual guide. They would then take my recommendation to all the companies in the group, to start a discussion with them regarding the re-branding process on their websites. There were 54 web properties affected at the time.
My comments: This was a very challenging project, because of the amount of web properties owned by the Old Mutual Group, which meant different layouts, colours and logo sizes. It was difficult to re-brand individual websites, whilst still keeping in mind the overall brand feel. In the end the re-brand was successfully implemented and the costs were less than initially anticipated.
