Château Capion Winefarm is located in the Languedoc-Rousillon region of Southern France, in a small prime area north-west of Montpellier. The domaine encompasses 75 hectares with approximately 45 hectares planted as vineyards. The river Gassac from which the valley takes it's name, flows through the property bringing an abundance of wildlife to the estate.
Client requirements: The client required a website that would showcase not only the wines and where to find them, but also the feeling of the winery and his family heritage. He also wanted to use the website as a way to communicate to the general public.
The project: I was responsible for the design as well as development. The information architecture was done by a colleague of mine, who was also the client contact. All photos were provided by the client's photographer.
My comments: I prefer, as the designer, to have direct contact with the client. To hear things first hand is always the best. It gives you a chance to ask questions someone else might not ask, and helps with figuring out exactly what the client wants. This very often saves time, when the client does not have to be consulted over and over, because the designer asked what they wanted in the beginning of the project.
