Masthead Distribution Services is a distribution services company dedicated to supporting the independent broker by offering a range of support services that will enable an independent broker to retain their independence, manage their risk and grow profitably in an increasingly turbulent industry.

Client requirements: In 2005 the client approached me and asked if I could assist them with their website. The end result was not a total design update, but a total web restructure, whilst still using the current familiar design. The content management system was also rebuilt to make it easier to use. Web report functionality was also added to help measure website usage.
The project: I was responsible for the daily management of the website, as well as dealing with the hosting company, and the development agency who built the first version of the website. I started from the beginning with a web survey to ask users what they thought about the site. We then moved on to restructuring the website's Information Architecture, followed by updating the design a bit. I then redesigned and restructured the Content Management System, so that the website would be easier to to update by the company. This was all ended off by training and final handover.
My comments: This was by far the most exciting project to work on. The client handed all responsibility of the website over to me. This helped in getting things under way faster than normal, because it cut out the usual red tape you find in big companies. I also built my first content management system along with the web agency "001". I also learnt a lot about web consulting and running your own company through this project.
